*Target capacity of 700-800 kt by 2030 estimated to meet regulatory mandate targets.
Our vision

For e-SAF to become a commercial reality this decade, taking aviation a vital step closer to lower emissions future.

E-SAF is an innovative drop-in fuel which is forecast to be an important lever in reducing emissions from long-haul aviation by 2050. It could produce 90% fewer emissions over its lifecycle from production to use than fossil jet fuel, with fewer feedstock constraints and lower environmental risks than other SAF types. With 70% of planned e-SAF production capacity in Europe, the region is well positioned to lead the way.

Our mission

To pave the way for the first large-scale e-SAF plants to reach Final Investment Decision by end 2025

To date, no large-scale e-SAF plant has reached final investment decision, held back by large investment requirements, high risks, and a lack of off-take. Project SkyPower focuses on a critical window of opportunity – to meet industry emissions reduction targets by 2050, we must get first projects to FID by end of 2025 to be operational by 2030 and scale the transformative technology behind e-SAF to reach market tipping points in the 2030s. Working together, our members will find solutions to reduce the green premium, share the costs and de-risk first projects.

Our plan

Courageous and collaborative leadership from CEOs to break down barriers

Our pioneering members, leaders from across the energy and aviation value chains, will collaborate on an in-depth modelling process to create transparency and alignment around the economics of e-SAF. Together, we will explore the business case gap for specific European countries and develop a concrete action plan to enhance the bankability of individual e-SAF projects. We commit to sharing our modelling and our plans with the industry in an insights report in October 2024.

We face a critical window of opportunity: Meeting aviation's 2050 emissions targets needs the first e-SAF projects up and running by 2030, so this innovative technology can reach market tipping points in the following decade and achieve scale by 2050.
